| About Us
What do you do with an interior design degree, a certification in fitness, a dog training/behavior certification and a passion to educate? Well, if you’re lucky enough, you combine them to make the perfect career! Since the time Fran Berry took her first steps, she had a love of dogs. As a toddler, she hugged every stray-dog in the neighborhood and this terrorized her parents, not because they were afraid that she would get bitten, but because they knew they would end up having to buy a dog or two or three of her own!
Growing up she had dogs, cats, birds, horses and an assortment of reptiles, so it is no surprise that she ended up working in the animal industry. But her career path was not a straight one, as she decided to first pursue her creative desire by enrolling in a design college. As a means to ward off stress, Fran began running and her newly found interest in fitness landed her in night school to study personal training and nutrition. Over the last decade Fran coached her clients to better health and well being, but the anxious and rowdy pup she rescued from a local shelter turned her interests to studying animal behavior and training. Once there she was hooked!
Today, Fran’s business combines the best of three careers: She teaches doggie etiquette, finds solutions for the bored, stay-at-home dog, designs dog environments for the safety and comfort of all family members, and keeps her doggie clients in tip-top physical shape.
Fran has volunteered her free time at dog-shelters and said that one of the saddest sights is seeing a dog relinquished because the owner could not tolerate the dog’s behavior. Just like dealing with illness, prevention is the key and finding solutions for problems before they develop is the best way to a satisfying relationship between human and hound.
Fran’s mission is to get the dogs into good homes; make sure the homes are environmentally sound and dog-proof; teach the dogs what is expected of them, and most importantly, teach the humans how to be the best pet-parents they can be!
Currently, Fran shares her home with her rescue-shelter kids, Freddie, Fia and Felix (the feline-fido), collectively known as the F-Troop! |
